A half mat!
My knowledge of living both in the urban and rural areas is not nascent. As such the subject of our story talks about a half mat, which invariably connote living in abject poverty! According to FOLARIN Shefiff (2000) ' Most Nigerians live in poverty -NGO ', Nigerian Tribune ( Ibadan) May 4, page 4, either urban or rural dwellers as the proverbial church rat who could hadly afford a square meal a day ! The situational report about one Mr Ebunuwele living in a single room, with a half mat is an emphatic message to depict how most Nigerians even in their own country that is termed as the giant of Africa, also whose main stay is the wealth from the oil sectors, but derogatory to NGO comments about the states of lives of the populace ! Hence the deplorable conditions of poverty is a stigma to the democratic government of president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, since the inception of May 29 democracy day (1999).Hence why celebrate poverty amidst the giant of Africa, with OIL ! -
