This iReport is part of an assignment:
Life in the early 1980s: Style and politics
Life in the 80's
In the early 80's.....
My life consisted of going to school and partying on the weekends.....
I graduated HS in 82....
In 1982 I moved out to Phoenix Arizona with my boyfriend Mike and my life consisted of partying full time.... there were five of us that rented a house, I was the only female, we had 4 dogs and 2 cats.
That was where I learned, I can never live too far from the Ocean.... and I need the change of seasons.
Within 8 months we were back in New Jersey.
Got rid of the boyfriend by 1984, and my life consisted of going to the beach all day in the summer time, waitressing three nights a week to support myself and partying.
I did a lot of drugs up until I met my husband in September of 1986 ,we moved in together and were married in 1988, the rest is history.
I was lucky to have no pre-disposition to addiction...I quit all drugs except marijuana when I settled down with my husband. I was tired of the people who partied, the lack of ambition, and wanted to settle down. I am glad I got through this phase early in life, I never worried about a mid life crisis....since I had experienced everything I wanted to in my early years.
I could care less about politics in the 80s. I had little style but it's hard to find any picture of me from those times with my eyes open and mouth closed.
Still difficulty at times....lol
The first picture was taken in 1984, just after breaking up with my boyfriend Mike....where most of my days were spent getting high.
The second picture was on my wedding day.
The last picture was of me about 5 years ago.
Life moves fast.
It's hard to believe where I have been and who I am now.
Though I had no focus in life in the first picture, and life was full of dreams and promises in the second picture.
I would never have guessed we would accomplish all we have in the last picture.
I could not be happier with where I am now.
Life truly is a journey....and nothing is written in stone.
You can change the course of your life....at any given point if you truly want to.
When it comes to politics.....I think I knew even back then that it was all a farce....those who run the government could care less about the voters they represent and help get them there.....
Though I did not care much then, and care now...I still feel that there is little that can be done to change the souls and minds of our politicians......
Live life to the fullest is my philosophy.....don't sweat the small stuff, love hard, and forgive often....because everything can change in the blink of an eye....and you may not get to say how you felt about someone until you realize it's too late.
