I've been married to my husband for almost 13 years. Our names are Scott and Amy. We both have a skeletal system, a brain, a heart, two kidneys, the ability to love, college degrees, families, emotions, and many more qualities that define us as a humans. One of us could walk outside at night and not so much as get a second glance. The other would be considered a danger. A risk. Someone to be leery of. One of us lands jobs like no ones business. The other - well it's much more difficult... even thought we're both educated and highly skilled. One of us gets pulled over by the cops for "random traffic stops". The other could speed down the highway with both headlights out at midnight and not get pulled over. One of us gets funny looks when we're walking through high-end department stores. The other is approached by sales people relentlessly. One of us is assumed to be a deadbeat parent due to the color of our skin. The other - well automatically is an outcast for marrying outside their race. One of us is white. One of us is black.
