    Thai Gov't evacuation of nationals in Egypt

    Prime Minister and Defense Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has given the highest priority for the safety of Thai nationals in violence-stricken Egypt. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Royal Thai Air Force has set in motion the orderly departure of Thai nationals. Hundreds of Egyptians have died in recent days.

    The Government is in constant contact with the Thai Student Association and informal groups which are based in Cairo.

    The first group of Thai nationals, 344 people, mainly university students, have been evacuated on August 18 from Cairo airport, heading to Dubai and where the Royal Thai Air Force will ensure their safe return to the country.

    The second batch consisting of 317 people has left on the same day, while a third flight has been suggested and in the midst of coordination.
