Harvey University Launches Major-Specific Placement Program for its Students
The placement program of an educational institute is an indication of its international associations and prestige. It also reflects its strong network with the worldwide community of businesses and enterprises. The wider the scope of such networks the more established the institute’s name and prestige.
Harvey University has taken the novel step of launching a Major-Specific Placement Program for its students. The University has a total of 16 schools of education offering 71 comprehensive majors each of which is evaluated on a regular basis to maintain relevance to modern times. According to the new program, students will now be offered employment opportunities that are directly related to their skill set and academic qualifications instead of the general placements programs that are the norms in most educational institutes.
When a student enrolls in a program, is or her name is automatically added to the Placement program’s list. Over the months as the student passes the various examinations, the career counselors of the University make suggestions of a suitable career path to the student, based on the results of the examinations taken. Counseling sessions can also be arranged to address any queries the student may have. In this way, if a student is displaying inadequate competency for a chosen major, he or she will be informed earlier or and so can start work on improving his or her scores.
The concerned faulty members and career experts who make up the placement committee of Harvey University decided beforehand the list of attributes a student choosing a particular major should possess and how to develop them if need be. These are based on industry benchmarks and trends. Following these predefined guidelines, students of Harvey University are prepared early on to compete effectively.
“It’s a novel way to approach the placement process and far more productive too. Through this approach, the right skills are developed early on and deficiencies identified and corrected as they appear,” a member of the committee was quoted as saying.
So far, the students of Harvey University have expressed interest over the new placement program and are eager to explore the possibilities such an approach can offer to them.
