    My Deer Project

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Billy Ocker shared a photo essay including images he captured over the span of three years. 'If you want to photograph wildlife, you have to be quiet and when you see them, you have to move slowly and try not to scare them. I always look for their tracks on the ground.' He says he is concerned about their habitat. 'It's just sad to see this place going in this direction. I just wish people would be smarter about their actions and try to protect wildlife better.' The third image was featured as CNN's Travel Photo of the Day on May 19, 2014.

Over the last three years I've capture photos and video of the deer at St. Sebastian River Preserve State Park in Florida. Many people enjoy seeing these gentle animals. When I first started this project I did not know that from the days of when I would see up to forty deer in one outing to today when you would be lucky to see a few. Some days I wouldn't see one deer. Where did all the deer go well the human factor is slow effect where they live. Things I see are park workers riding quads all over the place. Visitor bringing there dogs there to run free and chase the wildlife and the worst of all poachers. Someday if we continue down this path I believe all the deer will be gone. Maybe we will wake up before it's to late . "Let's Save The Deer" Hope you enjoy the pictures and a short video. All these photos and video were taken as I walk thru the many trail this preserve has to offer. Story By Billy Ocker
