This iReport is part of an assignment:
Name Change Denied by Social Security Administration
On 08/20/13 my wife went to the Social Security Administration with our marriage license and my ID for a name change. After an hour of waiting, she was told that the Social Security Administration does not issue name changes to same sex marriages.
The Redwood City SSA office told her that my information would go in a "same-sex file" and they would process it at some point in the future.
I am very frustrated, and feel my federal and civil rights are being denied.
I contacted the SSA via email, with no response as of yet.
