This iReport is part of an assignment:
Speaking up about sexual violence
Sexual Harassment Comes in All Flavors
I was constantly being teased in school as I began developing. Most of my fellow students thought I wore what they called “Falsies” back then; or shoved Kleenex down my bra to make myself look big. They had no idea how I had wished I had a small chest like the other girls. Both the boys and the girls had made fun of me because I was physically enhanced naturally.
After my grandmother had talked to me at length about the male mentality where a female body was concerned I stayed clear of the boys and found that some girls were just as bad. Some girls were just as devious about touching parts of the anatomy of others as the males I was warned about. Being sexually harassed whether by a male or a female is no different. Any female that believes that being of the same gender gives them special privileges to randomly touch another in areas that should not be touched is sadly mistaken, but they do it.
Although males may like to look at females with nice skin and a good looking body and a few might even let out a wolf whistle or two or honk their car horn at what they think is a pretty person most of the time it is a harmless thing and whether most women choose to acknowledge it or not, it makes most of the women feel just a little bit pretty because somebody else thought so.
Relationships cannot be based on somebody’s looks though and therein lays the biggest problem around. I have seen women sexually harass both men and women, but nobody ever says much about that fact. Many women, whether they know it or not is very jealous deep down of other women just as they are of the positions some men hold. I have worked with a few of those types of women and am not afraid to speak the truth.
By saying this I am not excusing the males for their short sightedness in only seeing the outer package of the female gender and not even looking beneath the surface, but the fact that the female gender is guilty of the same exact things. Nobody wants to believe that females are just as mentally ill when it comes to sexual harassment as the males, but they are; you just don’t hear about them because it isn’t fashionable. I don’t care about fashionable things when the truth is being covered up or ignored. And it doesn’t matter what color your skin is, what religion you practice or even what economic class you belong to; the shenanigans at the White House over the past few decades should be a testimony to that fact.
