Opening Day at the Butte County Fair
Thursday was one of the few days of the year when kids were able to use bad manners and scarf down funnel cakes while their parents cheered them on. The blue ribbon winners Thursday and Friday will be able to return on Saturday to compete in the finals.
The popular Splash Dogs stole the show twice during the first day of the fair. In all, the Splash Dogs will perform 12 times over the course of the fair. These furry little guys truly are a favorite of the four day event.
While some chose to visit the Midway of Fun, many viewed the numerous entries that were submitted for the enjoyment of others—some of which were awarded ribbons. From paintings to quilts to baked goods to flowers, it seemed the delightful tour of talent would never end.
Kids of all ages laughed and joined in the fun at the Farm-Tastic Show with Becky’s Creations. As corny as it was, the entire audience seemed to be having a blast with Becky and Old MacDonald.
Participants of Stamp Your Feet Performing Arts Centre of Oroville showed of their talent on the Courtyard Stage with singing and dancing. Girls and women showed how much they enjoy performing in various acts for the audience.
Of course, the food cannot be left out. Whether it is barbeque, tortillas, or the traditional corn dogs and cotton candy you want, they are all there—and more. Many even attended the Taste of Butte County event Thursday, which included a variety of foods from businesses all over the county.
There is much more fun in store over the next three days—a bushel of it. Be sure to check out the schedule by going to http://www.buttecountyfair.org/fair/event-schedule. Then head on over to the Butte County Fair.
