A personal interview with Orthopedic Surgeon Thomas J. Parr, M.D. F.A.C.S.
Dr. Tom Parr is a recognized Orthopedic Surgeon and specialist in the fields of Sports Medicine, Children's Orthopedics, and problems of the Knee, Hip, and Shoulder, including Arthroscopic Surgery and Total Joint Replacement.
Dr. Parr discusses the importance of prevention and preparedness in order to avoid some of the most serious sports related injuries that could require major surgery.
With school starting back again all over the country now is the time to be prepared for the tough workouts required of our young people in the sports they play. Dr. Parr talks about how we think we are prepared but in truth, if we have not been very active throughout our summer break, WE ARE NOT PREPARED!
In this short 16 minute interview Dr. Parr offers insights into the importance of proper care for optimum recovery in the event someone is seriously injured.
Currently, Dr. Parr serves as the Chief of Staff for Houston Orthopedic & Spine Hospital in Bellaire. Dr. Parr has been a Member of the Board of Directors for the West Point Society of Greater Houston since 1989, and is a Volunteer Medical Consultant for the Shriners' Hospital for Children in Houston. He also enjoys being a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center of Houston.
