Social Media Trends in Indian Outsourcing companies
The Business Process Outsourcing Industry in India has suddenly woken up on the benefits of social media engagements and use of Facebook as channel to engage existing and potential employees.
In first half of 2013, They are spending reasonably good budget on Social Media engagement i.e. Facebook with more professional look and feel. The IT/ITES companies have expanded communication teams with social media managers and content writers. All outsourcing companies like Infosys, Wipro, Capgemini, TCS, HCL & Convergys has very neatly managed pages and doing Facebook advertisement for increasing likes. Most of these companies has more then 100,000 likes and using Facebook for hiring employees. WIPRO is leading the pack with 675,000 likes followed by CONVERGYS with 630,000 likes. On engaged users convergys is leading the pack with 12,000 engaged users.
Capgemini is the other company with good strategy 371,000 likes and beating Infosys by 50,000 likes. The IT/ITES companies are taking this route as they have very young work force which is active user of social media and is currently lowest cost mass communication media.
Surprisingly, some of the big IT companies like IBM in India has India recruitment page with 28,000 likes and multiple other pages but no single India strategy to manage social media across verticals. Companies like Interglobe technologies focused on Airline BPO do also have a Social Media strategy and has more than 115,000 Likes but they have mixed strategy for the group for BPO and other verticals.
Socialert.in has released its 2013 current ranking for IT/ITES Companies in India
It seems, In near future we will see far more engagement and budget allocation by outsourcing companies and competition getting real hot for more page likes on Social Media and agencies fighting for it.
Social Media has created one more avenue for companies to spend money and acquire and engage customers. Count of “likes on Facebook page” and “twitter followers” is becoming new metric to be tracked by business leaders and sales conversion is also being tracked for this medium.
Social Media is time consuming – it requires fast paced, event responsive creativity and consistency towards customer engagement and timely response to customer comments and queries. You need to be consistently looking out for a "super bowl Oreo Moment" If your organization cannot keep pace with the demand of managing a high volume page, it is better to outsource and give it to professionals who are running 24*7 setup and can be on their toes, on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media channels to stay relevant.
It is not very far when we will see for plenty of these companies with 1 Million page like on India Facebook page - lets see who hits that number first ?
