UN Special Consultative Status to the Indian Dreams Foundation, Agra (India)
Recognized as a national level non governmental organization, the Indian Dreams Foundation dedicates for the education and development of the disadvantaged children belong to the urban and rural slums and communities.
The consultative status with the UN is based on its expertise in development projects, grassroots implementation strategy, governance and financial stability. ECOSOC is one of the principal organs of the United Nations.
The Special category is granted to NGOs with competence in a few of the fields of activities covered by the ECOSOC.
NGOs with Special Consultative Status can circulate statements of a certain length at the Council meetings and are required to submit quadrennial reports.
Receiving the Consultative Status enables NGOs to make contribution to the programs and goals of the UN by serving as technical experts, advices and consultants to governments and the UN Secretariat. Sometimes as advocacy groups, they espouse United Nations themes and implement plans of action on program and declaration adopted by the UN. It also entails participation in ECOSOC meetings.
NGO with special Consultative Status can submit written statements and make oral intervention on different topics of the agenda.
This Special consultative Status for the first time granted to Agra (Uttar Pradesh) based NGO Indian Dreams Foundation. The Indian Dreams Foundation (IDF) is a non-profit organization founded in the year 2005 with a mission to impact the lives of less privileged people, especially children, enabling them to maximize their potential and change their lives.
IDF works primarily in the field of education, health, women empowerment etc. We are addressing these development issues through awareness and educating people of under privileged communities.
IDF was one of the first Non Profit Organization in Uttar Pradesh to receive the Credibility Alliance certificate in 2009 for transparency and good governance. We are also associated with the prestigious Give India Foundation.
Our network with national and international agencies has helped us reach the deepest corners of the society in the region. We have successfully helped more than 9000 beneficiaries from marginalized background through its different educational and empowerment programs.
