Dragon Con 2013
May the Magical Force be With You

While deciding on the idea was easy, making it happen hasn’t been. One difficult part was actually figuring out who would be which Princess and how that Disney Princess would look as a Jedi. The Star Wars Universe is vast and has so many different characters that picking a good look for each Disney Princess took a lot of research. It also took a lot of creativity. One friend imagined Cinderella as a Princess of Naboo and has created patterns and found embroidered fabric to make that happen. Another friend decided she didn’t want to be a Jedi or a Princess and is instead making an evil Sith Twi’lek crossed with Maleficent. It has taken her a lot of effort to create a Twi’lek Lekku. Snow White is being transformed into a Jedi who has fallen to the dark side by another friend, based on the relative darkness of the ABC version of the character in Once Upon the Time, and Snow White and the Huntsman.
I am going to be Sleeping Beauty as a more traditional Jedi and melding her costume with Star Wars clothing I have seen playing Star Wars The Old Republic computer game. I am dressing my boyfriend as Jedi Prince Phillip. The biggest challenge I personally have faced has been learning to sew. I have been taking classes and was able to finish my boyfriend’s Jedi costume, but I just started on mine and with Dragon*Con just a few days away I am scrambling to get done in time. I might have to get resourceful and find some pieces to finish the costume. Not finishing is just not an option when I have so many other people doing this costume because I asked them to.
This isn’t my only costume for Dragon*Con and getting ready is crazy. I’m lucky that my fellow cosplayers are amazing and haven’t needed much help, but we also haven’t talked much about what we are doing. This means that Dragon*Con will be the first time we see each other’s costumes. I have no idea what Belle is going to be. One girl is doing a Slave Leia Ariel and I cannot wait to see how that comes out. No matter what, I expect to have a wonderful time at Dragon*Con in my costume spending time with my closest friends, spreading the force and magic everywhere we go!
