Traveling with tots requires lots of patience and even more gear. Between the car seats, the double stroller and the diaper bag, I usually have no hands left for my own belongings. For last year's ski trip — usually a gear-laden adventure in its own right — a light-bulb went off. Knowing where we were headed and when, I packed the skis, boots and helmets and sent them ahead via USPS. The ease of the transaction and the relief I felt upon walking out of the post office empty-handed was almost unseemly. Excited that I'd just offloaded half my burden, I took it one step further and did what I should have done a few years ago. I consulted with my friend Google who informed me that there are a number of companies that will deliver all the baby gear you need to your destination at very reasonable rates. Given the cost of checking luggage and all the hoops you have to jump through to make it from the parking lot to the plane, having my essentials meet me upon arrival was an absolute revelation.
