New Biography Released About Bishop Martin J. O'Connor And The Pontifical North American College
Monsignor Stephen M. DiGiovanni is pleased to announce the release of his new book, The Second Founder: Bishop Martin J. O'Connor and the Pontifical.
Following World War II, the Catholic Church in America worked to reopen their national seminary in Rome, which had been confiscated by the Italian government. This is a recounting of the work by the post-war rector, Bishop Martin J. O'Connor, to re-open and build a new American seminary, and the project involved large personalities: Pope Pius XII, Cardinal Francis Spellman of New York, Cardinal Edward Mooney of Detroit, Count Enrico Galeazzi, the American Government, the Italian Government, the Soviet Government of the USSR, Louis B. Meyer and Hollywood moguls and money. More than just religion!
“It is simply my self appointed goal to help set the record straight about Martin J. O'Connor and his greatest work as the second founder of the Pontifical North American College,” says Stephen M. DiGiovanni.
