This iReport is part of an assignment:
Naming the Syrian Campaign
The Obama Administration, along with a whole bunch of Republicans, want to attack the Syrian government for what they believe to be a confirmed chemical attack on the rebels fighting against it. At least Republicans have a reputation for wanting to go to war with everybody. But why does President Obama, Joe Biden and John Kerry?
Senator and Candidate Obama said that the President needs congressional approval before attacking another country that has not attacked the United States. Syria has not and will not be attacking the United States. “The president does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation." He later attacks Libya without Congressional approval although there were many Republicans who backed Obama.
Senator Joe Biden said in 2007 that President Bush had "no constitutional authority ... to take this nation to war against a county of 70 million people unless we're attacked or unless there is proof we are about to be attacked. And if he does, if he does, I would move to impeach him."
And John Kerry, a veteran of the Vietnam War in 1971 spoke out against the war and claimed to have thrown away medals in protest of it. "I gave back, I can't remember, six, seven, eight, nine medals." Later as a candidate for Senate and in 2004 for President he claims to still have the medals.
So let us help the Obama Administration come up with appropriate operational codenames for the bombing of Syria that most political analyists are saying is inevitable and will come sooner rather than later.
Operation If Iraq had a son it would look like Syria
Operation Nobel Peace Prize winner bombs a 7th country
Operation It's Bush's fault, again
Operation It's wrong when Bush does it
Operation Acting Stupidly
Operation We have to bomb it so we know what's in it
Operation, Vietnam No, Iraq No, Syria yes
