Although the Great Pyramids can be an incredibly crowded place, it is quite easy to break away from the hoards to enjoy a more tranquil view of these World Wonders. This picture was taken with the Queens Pyramids in the foreground (along with two perfectly placed camels!), making it a photo fit for the pharaohs! Back in 2010, I led a couple of walking tours in this ancient land of Egypt. With the assistance of our capable national guide, Mohamed, we took in the country's many historical and cultural highlights without realizing that a major revolution was about to commence in three months time. It is such a shame that many people will now stay away from this wonderful land because of the ongoing political unrest. My friend Mohamed, and many others in Egypt's tourist industry, are struggling mightily to make ends meet. It is a sad and desperate situation for so many Egyptians that I hope some day will be remedied. They deserve better!
