BRAND NEW & BEAUTIFUL: ROCK CHURCH EL CAJON
An abandoned Michael's Craft Store has found new life has a brand new & beautiful Rock Church in San Diego's East County. The senior Pastor is the well-liked Ricky Page, formerly of the Point Loma campus.
The newest satellite of the popular Rock Church is located at 808 Jackman St., very close by Parkway Plaza shopping center and right off Interstate 8. The East County church appears to me to be well on it's way of becoming the latest addition to the growing number of large churches that call El Cajon Valley home.
It makes perfect sense to head east. El Cajon is the third branch of the fast-growing Rock, with a North County chapter located up in Carlsbad. The new worship center is a 22,100-square-foot space and Point Loma Rock Pastor Miles McPherson told the Union/Tribune earlier this year that the El Cajon spot has "plenty of parking, room for up to 700 people in its main room and proximity to its large East County evangelical base."
Not only that but the Pastor said the original Rock Church in Point Loma has "always drawn the largest percentage of its worshipers from East County. The new expansion to El Cajon will offer residents greater convenience and serve as an anchor for the church's philanthropic activities in the region."
And those needs are great. The East County offers plenty of people in need and scores of opportunities to volunteer and help out. A Youth Group is now getting started and ministry opportunities are being organized.
The Church I visited today on the "sneak peak" was beautiful. The sanctuary was roomy and perfectly air conditioned. Comfortably plush seats and excellent worship music opened the service. Nova Page, Head Pastor Ricky Page's lovely wife, is a part of the music ministry and soloed on two songs.
After that. the three screens simulcast the Pt. Loma Church service. After the Altar Call, parishioners who just about filled the room to capacity, strode out into the late and hot morning...spiritually refreshed and invigorated...at least until next week.
Welcome to the new East County chapter of the Rock Church.
