We hiked California's Mt. Lassen for 2 and a half hours straight up to be married amongst a small handful of die hard friends and family at 10,500 feet. My 54 year old father brought up the rear slowly but surely, but he made it! The day started out with breakfast at a little Italian place in Chico, California. Followed by 18 of us piling into cars and driving 2 hours to the trail head. It was a breezy day, and not above 80 degrees, Just right for the trek we had ahead of us. Naturally, we all started out as a group but after only about 20 minutes we all found our appropriate niche of hikers with like physical ability. Blisters and altitude sickness ensued but we all made it to the top and so began the most beautiful 15 minutes of my life. Fellow hikers sat quietly by and watched as our short but sweet ceremony commenced as the first ever atop Mt. Lassen. Rings were exchanged, kisses were sealed and we were officially Mr. and Mrs. Pieper on our 5th anniversary of courtship. The hike down was significantly easier but the excitement from just getting hitched with a 360 degree view of Northern California's as a backdrop left us all in a dreamlike daze.
