AM Briefing from Bowlersdesk.com for September 2, 2013

Today is Labor Day so government offices are closed. But that doesn't mean that there isn’t a lot to do here in America's finest city. There is a bunch of fun to be had all day long.

First at 9:00 head over to the Embarcadero in downtown and check out the Festival of Tall Ships and the U.S. Sandsculpting Challenge and 3D Art Exposition.

Both are having there last day.

The ships are docked over by the Maritime Museum of San Diego and the Sandsculpting is just south of the ships on the B street pier.

In Escondido City Hall at 10:00 AM Unions, church groups, Escondido's Deputy Mayor Olga Diaz, and San Diego County Democratic Party Chairwoman Francine Busby are rallying for Labor Day.

Also at 10:00 AM a non-Labor Day rally is happening in San Diego’s Balboa Park. The nonprofit Improving Birth is holding one of 150 nationwide rallies meant to raise awareness about improvements needed in American maternity care.

And finally tonight at 5:00 the Chaldean American Association is hosting Babylon Day.  It’s a festival honoring El Cajon's Chaldean community. The food and fun will be in the Prescott Promenade at 201 East Main Street in El Cajon.
