Tony Blair supports Thai Gov't reconciliation process
He said, "I am here because you invited me. I am also here because I believe in the process of reconciliation."
Blair responded in reference to accusationd by the Democrat Party of Thailand that he was paid to speak in support for Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.
The forum included speeches and discussions from world figures such as Finnish ex-President Martti Ahtisaari. Blair's participation drew criticism and protest from anti-Government groups and opposition parties.
The former Prime Minister highlighted proposed principles for reconciliation among the highly charged political situation in Thailand, where building of an acceptable democracy that works for the country based on the needs of the people.
Blair said that Thailand is in the position to become a global and regional leader, but the country needs to unite to overcome the past in order to develop and exploit the shared sense of opportunity.
