This iReport is part of an assignment:
Are chemical weapons a ‘red line’?
Let’s not turn the Civil War of Syria into another World War
USA should not abuse its power to orchestrate another theater of war without any support from the international community. No hasty decision should be made based on the conflicting reports and poor intelligence. US must collaborate with key allies including China and Russia and any resolution must be approved by the United Nations.
There may be handful countries willing to support the US military strike because US government is paying them billions dollar in aid and or promise to continue to pay.
USA should avoid creating another mega business of war; it is time to halt supporting the old way of generating and accumulating wealth via manufacturing and brokering the international arms deals including weapons of mass destruction.
President and Congress should not compromise because of looming threat of losing support from some congressional members to raise the debt ceiling if military strike is not authorized or delayed.
So far, any past hasty actions of USA and its handful allies without the full support of the international community and United Nations have helped to expand radical, extremists and terrorist groups in the Middle East, Africa and may be throughout the world.
Complexity of Syrian conflict must not be misunderstood which may not be resolved by US acting alone; it will require a strong dose of international diplomacy.
