This iReport is part of an assignment:
The End of Smartphones?
SamSung is about to introduce "smartwatch" in order to grow even further.
I admit that introducing a lot of new innovative products to the market helps SamSung boost its position as being innovative. However, there is a bad sign showing up as well.
Here, there are TWO possibilities.
First, "Smartwatch" is going to replace "Smartphone."
In this case, SamSung is likely to turn itself to become an innovation leader completely.
Second, people don't really want this product, which means that SamSung is just trapped in "marketing myopia", the stage that it focuses on innovation without enough concentration on customers' demand. Companies with "marketing myopia" end up introducing the best products that customers don't want.
Even SamSung wants to be a leader in innovative technologies, it is supposed to introduce the products that "customers want most" NOT "the most innovative products in the world."
Which possibility do you think is likely to happen with SamSung's "smartwatch"?
