Philippines' P10-B syndrome
These questions, however, have yet to be answered before a special investigating body created for this purpose prior to the filing of appropriate charges in court against, against Napoles, including those involved in the scam.
It could not be doubted that Napoles is in danger --- the reason why she choose to personally surrender to President Benigno Aquino III in Malacanang Palace in the evening of August 7. Although her surrender was viewed as politically motivated, her legal counsel, lawyer Lorna Kapunan, revealed that her client had been receiving death threats while in hiding.
Napoles went into hiding following a warrant of arrest issued by the Makati City Regional Trial Court in connection with a kidnapping case filed against her by whistleblower Benhur Luy, one of her employees and trusted men.
Now that Napoles is trying to hurdle a political fence built for her by her political cohorts, threats to her life continue to mount while in detention at Fort Sto. Domingo in Santa Rosa, Laguna. Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam”Aquino IV on September 2 voiced the observation that any information from Napoles would greatly help authorities get to the bottom of the controversy, which has sparked the biggest show of public outrage against corruption under the present administration.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) has already started gathering more pieces of evidence against Napoles in connection with her alleged connivance with some lawmakers and public officials in skimming billions of pesos from the pork barrel.
Now that Napoles has surrendered, she can reveal who else are involved while the DOJ and the Ombudsman are reviewing the evidence in order to determine who should be charged.
Will Lady Napoles reveal the truth?
We’ll be watching like hawks!
