I will be Honest and fair about theses companies. I bought a Netgear router from Sears on May 19th 2013. About 2 weeks ago I started having problems with the router. I called Netgear for support. I did not realize the 90day period had expired. Upon calling them, they told me my router was to old for support on the phone. The support person on the phone told me I should have purchased the router by Feb. 2012. I explained to him I live in a small city and items stay on the shelf a lot longer. He told me he would do a onetime help on the phone by remote access. I noticed different icons while he was working on my computer. He was just supposed to be fixing the router. He then told me I have computer errors and offered to fix and install some software for 129.00 I told him no. then he offered the program for 99.00 I still declined. On the screen I had from the program all these errors. He told me he would fix these errors and fix my router problem if I bought the MacAfee program 39.99. I told him I was worried about having problems after he fixed the problem and I told him years ago when I ran that program it slowed down my computer. He assured me that would not happen and if it did just call back and they would fix the problem. So 39.99 later my computer was running for about 20 mins and had all kinds of problems. Running slow. cannot connect to the internet freezing. The next day I call Netgear back. They told me I had a problem with iYogi not them. I asked who was that. I did not know they had transferred me to that company for support. I guess they are contracted to fix problems for Netgear if its past 90days. I explained to them what happened and I told them the other support person told me if I had any problems they would fix. Well after 2 hours on the phone transferred all over the place they refused to fix my computer unless I purchased a support package for hundreds of dollars. So consumers beware do not let a company work on your computer and install things that you don't want. follow first mind and just get what you called for. I ended up going to my internet provider and got a modem and router all in one from Comcast hooked it up and working faster then before. Then I learned I have protection from them from viruses on the internet. They even went as far as giving me a reference number.I told the person on the phone if they were going to have the Mcafee stop working to leave all alone. After all the changes and time spent i should get program free. he agreed. then to this day no refund has been given. I have wasted more time and money then the program was worth. I think Nergear and Mcafee should drop that company and get a company that will do them justice. There are many people out there that feel the same way and tired of getting ripped off from companies like IYogi. IYogi has call me about 5 times and still no refund. Wake up Netgear and MCafee!!!!!!!!!! So consumers can come back to you!! I once stood by you.
