Local Boy Scout troop builds dog park at The Buckingham senior living community
“My husband was an Eagle Scout, so I wanted to help out as much as I could,” said Fenske. “I thought it was admirable that he wanted to do a project that would benefit local seniors. A lot of our residents have dogs, so this was a perfect fit for us here at The Buckingham.”
Once David had the thumbs up from Fenske and the resident council, he then had the task of raising funds for the material needed to construct the dog park. After a few weeks and many kind donations by family and friends, including residents of The Buckingham, the time had come to break ground. Enlisting the help of his fellow troop members, David began the project on a hot sunny Friday morning in August and devoted two full days to completing it. The dog park was an instant hit with the residents and helps build on the amazing reputation The Buckingham already has within the Houston community.
“I’m extremely proud of David and his friends for seeing this project though,” said Dick. “This dog park is used every day and has not only brought dogs together, but residents as well. It’s a great place to sit down and have a conversation with someone.”
