Tips to Avoid Sugar at Work
You have quite a bit more control over sugar at home, but not as much at work. Here are some ideas for improving your problems with sugar addiction.
Make a real effort. There are certain parts of the year that are 'treat heavy', avoid the desks, cubicles, offices that might contain them. Avoid the sweets.
Make friends at work. Find people that will help in your fight against sugar, not enable your sugar addiction. Maybe you can encourage others to avoid junk foods (you needn't tell them that they are actually avoiding really unhealthy sugar).
Bring your own food and snacks to work. Some things that you might bring are:
- Fruit slices
- Unsweetened chips
- Non-sweetened nuts
Eat breakfast before you go to work. Too many people don't take the time. That is wrong. A breakfast with lots of protein will give you energy throughout your day.
Start...do something. Nothing is going to happen if you keep 'thinking about it'.
Exercise. Eat your non-sweetened lunch and take a walk. Get out and take some pictures. Try geocaching!
Write or blog about it. Keep a journal (on or off line) with all of the foods that you eat and how you feel. Do this and educate yourself.
- Some people are more comfortable with a keyboard than a notebook... So? What's wrong with that. Make a private journal on line.
- Reading your journals in the future can be even more enlightening than the writing process was. It can also strengthen you when you are feeling weak.
Read...the labels, information...whatever it takes. If you are unsure about something, ask.
Decide ahead of time what you will do if there is absolutely no getting around it. Limit yourself to one...or just homemade treats...or whatever works for you.
- Nobody's feelings will be hurt if you turn down that package of Oreos. They didn't cook them!
