A Message to My Daughters
You're going to grow up and see that the definition of beauty is tainted. Young girls of Hollywood are initially revered as beautiful for their natural beauty, their unadulterated wholesomeness. The world recognizes them for the good inside and the glow that is reflected from it on the outside. Then, after awhile, the world tells them that's no longer good enough. The world wants to see their edgy side, their dark side, they want to see less wholesomeness and more skin. More makeup. Natural talents are no longer good enough, they have to do something daring, something offending, if they want to still be considered relevant or important. They have to lose themselves in order to be loved.
The truth, my dear ones, is that the real definition of beauty never changed. Young girls across the world just stop listening to the right voices. The right voices are loving parents who want only good for their daughters, lasting success, and happiness - not a cheap substitute that can be obtained by selling your soul. The right voices care about your soul, they seek to guard your heart. The man who will love you eternally, devote his life to you one day, he will not want anything else from you other than what is truly beautiful, and truly you. The truth is, the best way to obtain a long and true life of happiness is to recognize the difference between those who desire to love you and those who only seek something for themselves, no matter the cost to you. You can save yourselves a lifetime of heartache, dead end ventures, and loss if you hold on to this truth. Don't idolize and follow after anyone who has lost themselves, dare to be a leader who can help others in finding themselves again. To aspire in this, you will find that you are happy, you will know that you are loved and you make the world a better place in only the way that you uniquely can. And as you are on this journey in finding yourself, know that I will always be here to remind you that your beauty never leaves you and what you are is enough.
