Today, in approximately 10 hours, Siv HD, a video game streamer who plays League of Legends, managed to raise $50,000 for something called "Gaming For Good". Gaming For Good promised to match every dollar eight times through some partnerships they had set up. All of this in order to save babies in the developing world through the training of healthcare providers who could provide medicine and care to young children with preventable diseases and sicknesses.
It's a testimony to the "online network" and it's ability to do amazing things when brought together by these internet personalities. After surpassing the goal, the donations have continued, and at the time of my writing this his stream (with the help of USAID's partners) have raised $899,040... (Now over $1 mil)
It's quite incredible, and motivational. I just figure it would be a fun story for y'all to cover seeing as due to the nature of the "internet community", it's giving that spans the entire world.
