9/11: The Untold Story
Medical research revealed that inhaled asbestos fibers can be hazardous to an individual's health. The fibers stick to the individual's lungs, then over time, the asbestos alters the cell's structure, which can become cancerous, then it spreads throughout the body.
When the U.S, EPA banned many asbestos products due to the health dangers and required expensive procedures for its safe removal, the city of New Your was stuck with a financial and strategic nightmare, in removing tons of asbestos from the World Trade Towere in the center of a major metropolitan area. This problem was kicked down the road, for decades, then the solution a getting rid of the World Trade Towers was provided with the unfortunate convience of the 9/11 attack. It's a bit beyond a simple coincidence that the only three buildings that collaped during the 9/11 attack were the three buildings that were already planned for demolition due to a severe asbestos issue: The Twin Towers and World Trade Center Building 7.
It does not matter, what theory that one accepts, as the reason that the World Trade buildings collapsed, the emplosion of World Trade Building 7, later that day, confuses all conventional theories. For decades, the government allowed thousands of unsuspecting workers and visitors to the Towers, to be exposed to an extremely unhealthy environment. In the meantime the costs of demolition of these buildings continued to skyrocket. Some estimates claim up to 50 times the cost of these buildings to get rid of them.
When the Twin Towers and Buidling 7, collapsed to the ground on 9/1/01, massive clouds of smoke, dust and debris released hazardous asbetos fibers and other toxic substances into the air. Studies showed that for a few days after the 9/11 attacks, the levels of asbestos in the Manhattan area were abnormally high. The government falsely claimed the the levels were not harmful, thus the citizens were unconcerned about their safety. The EPA ignored its own long-standing, vast collection of knowledge about pollution that results from demolition. OHSA, for whatever reason, refused to enforce worker safety standards at Ground Zero.
The World Trade Center Health Resigistry estimates about 410,000 people were exposed to a host of toxins, including asbestos during the rescue, recovery and clean-up efforts that followed 9/11. Exposer to asbestos can cause life-threatening illnessess, such as, mesothelioma and asbestosis. These diseases normally take years to display symptoms and medical experts expect a larger number of 9/11 responders and NY residents to be diagnosed with this illnesses in the upcoming years. So far, nearly 85% of recovery personell have suffered from lung problems, including a condition called, "World Trade Center Cough."
9/11 was truly a tragic day, far beyond the thousands that lost their lives, instantly, in the Twin Towers collapse, the emplosion of these three structures, immediately relived the city of New York, a decades long health hazard, that would have financially destroyed the city. Hundreds of thousands of people will suffer and die in the future from asbestos exposure, yet no one acknowledges their sacrifice and potential losses.
