Govt warned of peoples’ fury if Afridi released before Aafia return
Karachi, September 08: Pasban Pakistan Altaf Shakoor has warned the government that it will have to face the fury of Pakistani masses if the traitor Dr Shakil Afridi was released before the return of Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
He asked the Pakistani masses and Pasban activists in whole country to be ready for taking to streets because if Afridi was let go before the reparation of Aafia then the matters would be settled by the people themselves on roads.
In a statement here Sunday, he wondered if the government and politicians had struck a secret deal on the issue of Shakil Afridi. He said the traitor would receive a heroic welcome in America if Pakistani rulers released him on the pretext of legal lacunas. He asked why our politicians including Imran Khan, MaulanaFazlurRehman, Altaf Hussain, Syed MunawarHasan and AsfandyarWali have kept a mum on this sensitive issue. He felt that these politicians would do nothing more than holding a demo or issuing some statements if Shakil Afridi was allowed to leave Pakistan, like the CIA contractor Raymond Davis.
He regretted that top politicians and Ulema of Pakistan are silent on vital national issues. He said due to these things these politicians and religious leaders are losing the confidence of masses. He said these politicians form alliances and break them just to get a few ministries. He said these politicians only protest when they feel their parties lose election due to poll rigging. They stages long marches and ‘million marches’ for their vested interests but they lack courage to do something for the daughter of the nation.
Altaf Shakoor said on the issue of Aafia Siddiqui there seems no big difference between the Zardari regime and the present government. He said the nation is compelled to think if the treaty signed by the federal cabinet for the release of Aafia was just eyewash. He said had the rulers showed sincerity they had preferred the American treaty over the European Union treaty.
The Pasban leader said that people should now realize that no change was coming in Pakistan. They should better not dream for a new Pakistan. Our politicians’ worth remains no higher than to get a few ministries. He urged the people to be ready for resisting possible release and repatriation of Afridi before the return of Dr Aafia Siddiqui. He also demanded of the government of Mian Nawaz Sharif to include the issue of Aafia release in the agenda of the All Parties Conference.
