Be kind to one and other
And it means tolerance and love. And forgiveness and hope and trust. It means not bombing your neighbor every time he sends up a smoke signal for help.
After Viet Nam, I have never hurt or killed a living creature.
I tolerate everyone and every thing unless there is a clear and present danger in my face which means I must exterminate the threat.
But usually I just run away from everything really fast before it comes to fists, guns or C4. And I've been pretty lucky these last 40 years.
Though you would not want to dream my dreams, or relive the firefights at night when your buddies are killed by perimeter infiltrators in their foxholes.
NO body really knows what happened at Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal, Ia Drang or Khe Sahn. Maybe that's best. I do not really know any more.
I have energy for tolerance, forgiveness and compassion and that's about all I know.
