Duterte belies report Palace sought his help on Zambo siege
Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte belied report that officials from Malacañang sought his help in the Zamboanga standoff involving Moro National Liberation Front allegedly under Nur Misuari.
In an interview Tuesday evening, Duterte said nobody from Malacañang contacted him. He said he would also beg off if ever his help is sought since he is scheduled to fly to Korea for an official visit today, Wednesday.

On Monday, Duterte talked with Misuari over the phone to ensure that there would be no spillover of the Zamboanga incident here in Davao City.
The mayor said that his concern is only for Davao City which prompted him to meet with local MNLF leaders in the city on Monday. MNLF leader Abdul Aziz "Monk" Olamit assured Duterte that no MNLF members are making any movements in the region.
Olamit said that Misuari personally directed them not to create any trouble in Davao City and to always support Mayor Duterte in his peace efforts.
Asked if he could influence Misuari on convincing the supposed MNLF members who attacked Zamboanga City to give up, Duterte said he cannot.
The mayor said it's best for both sides to talk than shoot each other. Duterte said Misuari agreed to his suggestion.
Asked of his unsolicited advice to the national government on dealing with Misuari, Mayor Duterte said the government should never leave out anyone in the peace process as it involved all of us here in Mindanao.
Duterte earlier expressed his support on Misuari's declaration of independence. The mayor however clarified that only if it is within the bounds of law.
