City of Zamboanga in the Philippines Under Siege

The City of Zamboanga in the Island of Mindanao Philippines has been under siege for the past 4 days by moro separatist goups. Over 15,000 people have already fled their homes for fear of the heavy fighting. The rebels are holding over 100 hostages and yet the national government refuses to declare a state of emergency saying that everything is under control. Huge fires lit by the rebels have plagued the city since Monday. The government refuses to assult or mount a rescue even though negotitions have completely broken down. The city of Zamboanga is running out of supplies yet the national government just stands by watching.

Today two more villages were affected by the fighting which shows that the situation is not under control in fact, the fighting has spilled over to another city, Lamitan, Basilan and heavy fighting has been reported there since early Thursday.

The Aquino government refuses to acknowledge that the situation is not under control and will not do anything, they have been reporting false news that they are on top of everything. We the People of Zamboanga asks that international community to pressure the Aquino administration to do something.
