RACEHORSE FOUND BADLY INJURED
The horse was found soaked in blood by a resident of the area. A group of volunteers, along with the vet, Miss Vasiliki Papanastasiou, went to the location where the horse was along with police from Korydallos.
''The horse was found in a horrid situation'' said an equine welafre group, ''shocked by the blow and filled with blood- mainly in the head. His eye, from the left side that was hit, was bleeding badly and he has a deep cut in his knee.
We can firmly confirm that the horse was hit by a car or was just tied up behind a car in order to be transported. A realistic possibility is that he tripped and fell. However he is so malnourished, that it is easy to conclude that even before the accident he wasn’t treated as he deserved.
After he was offered first aid, he was transferred to our stables in Koropi with the trailer of our volunteer. The first night was really hard, as he was in pain and with his blind eye he was easily scared.
Official records of the horse say that he is registered as a racing horse named 'Mike My father'.
The dentist who treated him assured us that he is 9 years old and has trouble with his jaw, caused by the blow.
The situation is still serious, but by closely following the treatments and with the daily care of the volunteers and the horse vet we are already seeing a great improvement''
