CNN PRODUCER NOTE lloesch photographed flooding in Longmont, Colorado, on the morning of September 13. He says the city of Longmont is basically cut in two. On half has been inundated with floodwaters, and the other part, which is on higher ground and where he resides, has not seen much flooding. He decided to go over to the other half of the city to see how it is doing with all the severe weather. 'The feeling was generally one of disbelief and amazement. It's one thing to see this sort of thing on television in areas known for flooding, very much another to see it happening right in your own town,' he said. 'What struck me was the amount of mud everywhere. It was a sticky, heavy thick mud that was the consistency of wet concrete covering most areas that were flooded with a layer one to two inches deep. The other thing that struck me was the smell, a very musty or swampy wet smell.'
