A mayor in Romania wants to make hotel for dogs
In nine months, Calarasi municipality in Romania, spent 6 billion ROL only for managing stray dog problem. The results are modest at the beginning of the year until now, were captured 983 of the 250 dogs were adoptable. 583 dogs are now in paddocks and wait a chance to animal lovers.
Mayor of Calarasi, Daniel Drăgulin, says that when he took shelter for stray dogs, he had a capacity of 120 seats, the moment after expanding the number of paddocks, can be accommodated 600 dogs off the streets. The mayor's chief says it is sensitive to the problem and wants to arrange another 700 seats.
The mayor estimated that the number of stray dogs in Calarasi reached somewhere around 5500 - 6000, stating, however, that the costs for staying in shelter dogs are quite large: 257 lei / dog for a period of 15 days.
Asked if following the law that gives green euthanizing unclaimed dogs or taken within 15 days, the mayor asks rhetorically: "What matters more, a human life or the life of a dog?" And then adds: "I am an animal lover, I took a shelter dog, but human life is above all. "
Mayor hopes Drăgulin dog lovers to come in greater numbers and take quadrupeds whose fate is otherwise sealed. To move puppies escape as euthanasia, Mayor Drăgulin comes with a proposal: "Hotel for Dogs". The animal lovers can adopt a dog for a fee, can be kept in the house, where he will receive medical assistance, food and veterinary specific.
