This iReport is part of an assignment:
I don't really care that you had an Op-Ed make it into an American newspaper. In fact - I think President Obama should be able to do that ,too. And not just in Russia.
Personally, I would like to hear directly from other leaders all over the world. Yes - talk to me - tell me why you do what you do. Tell me what your opinions are. I want to hear them.
What I don't want to hear is - bullshit. I get that enough from American Politicians. You do not believe we are all created equal. That is a fact. If one is Gay,a Muslim or in a female rock band you - Sir, will not see them as having any kind of rights much less equality.
I actually didn't disagree with many of the points you made. Americans are wary of getting involved in another Middle Eastern country. We are kinda tired of being the World Police. But we do have that obligation. Why? Because our policies DO make us exceptional. We DO have freedoms that many other countries do not have. I can routinely and openly share my disgust for Republican policies, the Tea Party and our ridiculous Congress - without fear of being thrown into jail or having some ex CIA spy kill me or screw up my life in some way. Can your Russia say that? We do believe in what our Nation stands for. We may not be perfect and we absolutely need to change a great number of things. But the United States is still worthy of claiming to be "exceptional". Turning a blind eye to the Syrian people and their suffering is NOT what we do. We may be conflicted about how to do it - but we will help change what is happening there.
Hello - we got you involved, didn''t we?
