This iReport is part of an assignment:
From hobby to job
Canada unites Punjabis.
On his last visit to Canada had a chance to meet and chat with him. His strong love for Punjabi Music and culture is very evident throughout his conversion. Talks a lot about all great Punjabi roles models but talking about Shaheed (martyr) Bhagat Singh brings tears to his eyes. Agrees to the fact that today’s Punjabi music seems to be taking youth away from our rich traditions. Being a star does not affect him at all as he claims he still considers himself amongst the day to day common masses and intends to remain the same way. One can easily relate with his friendly nature. He seemed very happy to see the magnitude of Punjabi growth in Canada, and does see a lot of scope for Punjabi music and cinema.
My observation of Nashawan Bhullar is that he is a level headed, down to earth individual who cares and does want to make a difference especially towards highlighting Punjabi values. His direction in attainting his goals may not be very clear but his intent seems pure. We wish him the best of luck and hope when we meet him next he would not only have more clear ideas as to how to effectively address these issues but would have taken a step towards that direction.
