Students Find Jesus in College
You might be wondering what organization this might be and I have the answer to that. The organization is called Cru, which is formally known as Campus Crusade for Christ. When I first started college I was plugged into my church but I did not ever think about getting plugged into an on campus ministry. After a few weeks of college I began to feel things falling apart spiritually and that’s when I realized I needed to get plugged in. Although the campus ministry I began with was not Cru, it was still a good place for me to start.
After transferring to my current University, I looked into the campus ministries that were available. For one semester I was not involved in anything other than student government. When I got involved with Cru was during the Denver Christmas Conference held in Denver each year. This conference had a huge impact on my life and even helped me find my calling in ministry. Being my first time going to this conference I received a scholarship in which helped me get to the conference and experience God at an even deeper level.
The Denver Christmas Conference was my starting point with Cru, which turned into a 5-week mission trip to South Africa. Going to South Africa this summer really changed my life and showed me that I can step out of my comfort zone and share my faith with people I don’t know. If I had not gotten involved with Cru I would not be where I am with in my faith and in my community. I found that Cru is an organization that truly cares about others and will meet students where they are in their faith without shoving scripture down their throats.
Cru is a caring community passionate about connecting people to Jesus Christ. I encourage students around the world to get involved with Cru in one of its campus ministries. I know there are a lot of people that don’t think that faith is something important but let me tell you, it will change your life!
For more information about Cru visit their website www.cru.org and learn more about all their ministries and locate a campus that has Cru on campus.
