Elderly Ladies Scammed by man in Jamaica (Rupert Samuel)

*In the interest to all of the elderly people who fall victim to "scammers". *

I have been helping 2 elderly ladies for over 5 years, doing their chores, taking them to the doctor running to the store , everything short of their personal hygiene, even changing their cat litter etc.

*Mrs. Fannin(100yrs. old) and her daughter who is 80 and not in good health, have been sending out money to a man in Jamaica for a long time. I know for certain that 24 hundred dollars has gone to this man in the past 2 months. I have seen their bank savings go from 15 thousand dollars to 0 , they have closed out their savings account. I have tried to explain to them it is a scam but they do not listen to me. *

*Rupert Samuel(the man supposedly in Jamaica) has them believing they are paying taxes on an inheritance they will receive. I asked Mrs. Fannin last month how much longer it would be till they would stop sending money, she told me" this is the last time" that was last month. Just the other day Rupert Samuel called and I answered but he would not speak to me, so I handed Mrs. Fannin the phone he talked to her briefly for a few moments. *

Today 10/4/08 I was supposed to take them to pay out another 800 to this man, but I did not, so they had another person take them. I am a good man and a honest man, it hurts me deeply they do not listen to me or anyone else.

*I just hope someone some where will make people understand about this type f crime. I am very close and treat them like my own but it is so depressing to see them go broke over someone scamming them. I have contacted there pastor at the church today also letting him know about this atrocity. *

If you can "HELP"!!!  I am hurt , lost and confused besides feeling helpless.

*10/4/08  Today I found out someone else had take Mrs. Fannin to send out the 800 dollars to the man in Jamaica. He is telling them that they need to send more money because it is needed or they will loose everything. Which there is nothing to loose except their savings which is already gone now. *

I can not get them to understand that there is nothing there, they are going to get "nothing". He keeps telling them that if anyone else gets involved it will also keep them from getting anything, just an excuse to blame someone (like me) for not getting their money. Because there is no money to get!!!

UPDATE10/16/2009  I am updating on the two elderly ladies I was helping. At the beginning of the year, Pauline the 100 year old woman was put in the hospital because she has some kind of infection from eating old food she had around the kitchen. On that day she was hospitalized we (mom and myself) came to her house where she was sick and in very much pain, so we decided to call and have her taken to the hospital. Pauline was in the hospital for about 13 days, the doctors were contemplating to put her in a nursing home against her own wishes. This was bothering Pauline very much to be put in a nursing home, she told me that she did not want to go there. She told me that she wanted to go home and when her time came she wanted to die in her own home. This is when I told the doctors I would take care of her and stay with her 24 hours a day 7 days a week so she could have her wish of being in her own home again.

It has been 10 months now and she is doing good, her daughter Betty passed away in the nursing home back on April 9th of this year.  If Pauline had been put in a nursing home she would not had lasted 2 weeks, she would had grieved herself to death from being in the nursing home. I could not let it be that she would live the rest of her days in a nursing home.

My life now is not my own any more, but that is OK because I know what I am doing will help this little old woman live the rest of her days as happy as they can be in her own surroundings. It is very hard for me sometimes because I do not get out much and sometimes I feel my only salvation is the computer, it is my ticket to the outside world.

Pauline is doing very well now and as for eating the old foods she would have laying around all of that has stopped. By profession I am a chef and I know all of the safety and sanitation routine in the kitchen. I prepare her good foods, fresh foods and healthy foods, now she is healthy once again but she is still bed ridden, just because of her age. I do everything now from her personal hygiene to going to the store  paying the bills, what ever this little lady needs.

You know people think I am foolish for doing what I do  because I do it for no pay, I even use my own money to help her buy groceries or sometimes her medicine. But I will tell you one thing, when I lay down at night to go to sleep I can honestly say I sleep with a clear conscience and know I am doing what God wants me to be doing in my life at this time.

Thanks for reading, I will keep this updated again.

    sincerely
