My Take on the Auckland Arts Community
When I first moved to Auckland from Queenstown, I had very little money and knew nobody. Within a couple weeks I had met my future wife, and was working for an art gallery as the curator's executive assistant. Iwas relieved to have found a job so easily and quickly.
The arts community in New Zealand and specifically Auckland is an accepting and open scene which supports its members. There are exhibits and showcases featuring some lesser-known artists which assists them in growing a fanbase. I have been lucky to be part of some large gallery showings which received national press coverage.
The Auckland artists were receptive to my idea to open the Phoenix Photo Studio, and the space has been used for many gallery showings and independent movie premiers over the years. Our doors are always open when artists need a space to use for their production or as a gallery.
The Phoenix Photo Studio will be showcasing my debut photo exhibit throughout the month October. I invite you to come to the gallery and view my work. All images will be available for private sale.
