PORTAGE GLACIER OFF SEWARD HIGHWAY near ANCHORAGE, ALASKA
Take the Seward Highway south from Anchorage, Alaska.
Take a left on Portage Glacier Road and you have arrived at this remarkable glacier. Portage Glacier is one of Alaska's most popular attractions. ou can take a boat cruise and Visit the sheer, awesome face of a mighty Alaska glacier located just an hour from Anchorage. Or, like me, while traveling on a tour to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, you can take a quickie picture from the road.
This relic of the Ice Age is found four miles from the town of Whittier, Alaska and along the Turnagain Arm of the Kenai Peninsula.
As with other glaciers, the unique crystalline blue color of the glacial frozen ice, is breathtaking to behold. Put it on your Bucket List. if you haven't had an opportunity yet to appreciate the fantastic natural beauty of this most conveniently located glacier.
