11th Youth on Information Technology in Manila, Dubbed as the Largest Gathering of IT Students in Asia
MANILA,PHILIPPINES- Running on its 12th year --the Youth for Information Technology Congress (Y4it) culminated last Thursday with more than 30,000 Information Technology &, EEE student delegates from different Colleges and Technical schools in the country.
Organized by the University of the Philippines, Diliman, UP System & Information Technology Foundation Inc. , Philippine Society of IT Educators, Youth Volunteer Corps among others; Y4IT was held (for the first time) outside the UP, Diliman Campus to the Mall of Asia SMX Convention Center.
The three day event gathered Luminaries from the computing community and the academe and IT Industry in the Philippines, US, Belgium, Japan & Singapore.
Among the Speakers at the Plenary sessions were: Prof. Armin Sarthou Jr. (UP, Diliman Philippines), Prof. Bibo White (Computational Physicist, visiting Professor at the University of Hong Kong and Adjunct Professor at the University of San Francisco). Johann Janssens Founder of Joomla, Belgium); James Whittaker (Google/ Microsoft US) Jia -Long Row (Head of strategy Initiatives iCANN, Singapore.)
Over 20 or more Industry companies in the computing community in Manila also participated.
The annual congress on I. T. will resume next year with a bigger and better plenary sessions and discussions on the latest IT trends in the computing arena.
