One of the smallest independent nations on earth celebrated its 30th Independence day on September 19, 2013 with pride, pomp and ceremony. The bill board shown in image 1 reminds us that whether a country like USA which has been independent for over 200 years or a country independent for just 30 years, the fight is against the same inhumanities of criminals against their own nationals. St. Kitts celebrated its independence day by draping buildings with the national flag as seen in images 2 and 3 and families (image 4) began their celebration by joining the armed services display at the flag hoisting by the prime minister as seen in image 5 and 6. The holiday was celebrated by beach parties and other parties all around the beautiful island as seen in image 7. Although a predominantly Christian country with a lot of beautiful churches (images 8 and 9), other religions are free to practice their religion as seen in image 10 of the Hindu business community celebrating the festival of Lord Ganesha earlier in the week. With 2 medical schools and 1 Vet school, this Island contributes to the education of the future doctors of North America. It is an attractive place to visit with its rich biodiversity in its rain forests and a significant history dating back to the arrival of Christopher Columbus in the Caribbean region.
