Medical marijuana costs MI couple custody
Steve and Maria Green are licensed medical marijuana patients and Maria is a caregiver in Michigan. Yet the explicit provisions protecting child custody in the Michigan Medical Marijuana Law did not protect them from losing their baby Bree. A hasty re-hearing Friday, Sept. 20 ended with the judge upholding the decision to take their baby away. The previous decision was based on the argument that any home where medical marijuana was present was vulnerable to armed robbers. This time the judge questioned whether father Steve has seizures and even if he does, whether marijuana would be an appropriate treatment. Activists argue that medical marijuana is under siege from drug warriors seeking to hold onto their jobs.
