This iReport is part of an assignment:
www.espn.com front page was hacked - proof attached
I am sending this along as a news tip.
On 22Sept2013 roughly at 12:15 am est, I went to www.espn.com to take a look at the end of the days college FB scores.
The key here is that www.espn.com is
the URL. If someone goes to that address,
it normally is redirected to espn.go.com
To my surprise the page had been taken over and did not get redirected to espn.go.com as it always does.
I have attached several links to images showing what appeared.
It should be very easy to verify by speaking with an ESPN spokesperson and simply asking the question about this between 12am and 2am since later this same day, 22Sept2013 in the afternoon hours, www.espn.com is back to redirecting to espn.go.com as normal.
I am assuming this would be if they have a person who admits it did happen which is why I am providing the proof.
This was an obvious message being sent since I looked at the underlying source code for the hacked page and there it claims who did the deed. They were quite blatant and it
takes time to create such a text graphic old style tattoo taking claim for a hack.
This is obvious news for anyone who runs an IT dept or business so we are sharing the information for public awareness.
I have included a copy of image links below to show proof of everything stated.
