BULLFIGHT DRAMA IN MEXICO
I traveled in April, 2013, for a photo workshop out of Santa Fe, NM, with noted pro photographer Jennifer Spelman and a group of 12 photographers from around the world. The highlight of the trip was a front row seat directly behind the matadors at the Plaza de Toros in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. The Spanish style bullfight was authentic, colorful, thrilling and shocking at the same time. The Mexican matador, Diego Silveti, had been gored in November, 2012, but seemed fearless and totally in control facing this 2500-pound beast. The fanatical crowd loved his performance and insisted on the ultimate prize. He was awarded both of the bull's ears as a trophy!
