This iReport is part of an assignment:
This is a business trip?!
Senegal? Where is Senegal?
- CYDFISH7, CNN iReport producer
Being from a small town with little geography skills, I had no idea where Dakar or Senegal was at the time. This resulted in me automatically looking up the country on Google maps where I learned where this great West African country was located.
What I learned about Senegal was just how beautiful and friendly this country was. The first question everyone asked me when I met them was 'How do you like my country?’ and the look of pride on their faces when I responded with how much I LOVED their country.
Rich in culture with beautiful views, this ocean front city was full of adventure and experiences. My first trip there I took a tour of the city by car, but by my second business trip I was braver and took a mopad tour (which I highly recommend). I also decided to stay in a local bed and breakfast during my second trip which allowed me to experience the look and feel of a Senegalese neighborhood.
My favorite thing I did was take a ferry ride out to Goree island, which is a must see and has some of the most beautiful views of the city, not to mention a good history lesson about the country.
I highly recommend traveling to Senegal. I can’t say enough about how nice the people are there and how welcoming they are to out of towners. There are a lot of things to see and experience while in Senegal and I definitely was not disappointed!
