Baroque Church Architecture
Baroque Architecture is a Baroque era style or interpretation in architecture, sculpture and painting. The popularity of the Baroque style is through the encouragement of Catholic Church. It is the way of communicating through religious themes.
What is the simple Baroque meaning? It simply means elaborating something in details. In the Philippines, there are four Baroque Churches: San Agustin Church (Manila), Santa Maria Church (Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur), San Agustin Church (Paoay, Ilocos Norte) and Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Church (Miag-ao, Iloilo).
Featured Baroque Church in this article is the San Agustin Church. The church is located in the historic wall City of Intramuros, Manila. It was constructed during the Spanish Colonia period and was named a National Historical Landmark in1976 by the Philippine Government.
The San Agustin Church is one of the very popular tourist spot. Just in front of the church you can see the wood carving door that is well crafted and the architecture inside the church is unique and maintain through the years.
Everything is preserved inside and outside of the church ever since it was constructed. Church staff continue to maintain the church architecture inside and outside. (for safety and cleanliness) .
